FAQ’s
+ Can I do Reformer Pilates if I’ve never done Pilates before?
Absolutely! You’re in capable hands with our incredible team of experienced teachers. However, we’d love to personally walk you through a couple of things first. In order for you to get the most out of your initial group class, we recommend starting with a private session so you can get your head around all of the basics without the distraction of new people, too. In your private, we’ll teach you about how the Pilates Reformer machines work, how to engage your core muscles to prevent injury, and go over some of the exercises you’d encounter in a group class.
+ I have an injury – can I still attend classes?
Different injuries require different types of rehabilitation. Our instructors are well-versed in adapting their sequences to accommodate for variations in ability, but if you have any pre-existing conditions, are new to exercise, or have any active injuries, please do talk to us first. We trust in the intelligence of our bodies to let us know what we need, but when in doubt, it is best to consult with your doctor.
+ What should I wear?
For optimal comfort, choose active-wear that supports flexible movement. Leggings or bike shorts and a fitted tee ensures you can confidently move your legs in a reclined position without the concern of fabric riding up or hooking on the Pilates reformer machines. If you are doing a Pilates reformer class you will need Pilates socks, which are available for purchase at the studio.
+ Can I do Pilates when I’m pregnant?
The gentle, deliberate fluidity of Pilates is perfect for pregnancy—strengthening your pelvic floor, minimising lower back pain, and deepening your connection to breath. Not only is it a safe and low-impact way to support your body in blooming towards labour, but it can also be transformative in the recovery process postpartum. For your safety, we require all prenatal clients to begin with a private session before their first studio class and wait six weeks after labour to return for private sessions (12 weeks for group classes). A certificate from your treating doctor may be requested. Please note Cardio Flow is not suitable for pregnant women.
